Ahhh, Sunshine!
If you live in Florida, chances are good that you enjoy the sunshine and participate in many outdoor activities. While these activities make us happy, what the sun is doing to our skin could be deadly. You need to take precautions when spending time outdoors, especially in Florida.
Protecting you from skin cancer is our number one priority here at the Center for Dermatology. In addition to protecting your skin, we also educate on ways to prevent skin cancer.
"Dr. Burnett accurately diagnosed my problem and performed the required surgery resulting in my condition being completely cured. Dr. Burnett demonstrated a complete command of her profession and her surgical skill was masterful."
Beverly H. Bonaparte, Ormond Beach, Florida
"I endured a very dry and itchy skin condition for years and tried three different doctors, two dermatologists and my family doctor. A friend recommended Dr. Burnett and she began treatment of my condition, recommending changes in my medication, topical creams and diet. My condition improved within weeks and now the doctor is focusing on improving my skin that suffered damage over the years. I am very pleased and relieved that I have Dr. Burnett in my life."
Bret Owens, Ormond Beach Florida
It doesn't effect just the older crowd!
Skin cancer has long thought to be an older person's disease but there has been a rise of skin cancer in young people. Taking steps to prevent skin cancer can start as early as newborn babies. Wearing wide brim hats, applying sunscreen correctly, and avoiding peak sun hours can do wonders in the prevention of skin cancer.
How we can help!
Schedule an appointment to visit with our Dermatologist. A full visual examination will be done on your skin to evaluate the condition of any moles, birthmarks, unusual spots, or suspicious tissue changes on the skin.
If needed, a biopsy will be performed to determine if a course of treatment is required. Treatments range from surgery to radiation to chemotherapy. Your doctor will discuss what is the best course of action for you.
Early detection
Most skin cancers are not life-threatening, IF DETECTED EARLY ON. That is why it is so important for you to schedule yearly, and sometimes more often - depending on your skin type, an appointment with your doctor. If you haven't ever been to a dermatologist for skin cancer or it has been awhile, don't wait any longer. Your life may depend on it.
